CSR Program Aimed to Support Jordan’s Higher Education Sector
Under the patronage of Dr Azmi Mahafzah, Director of the University of Jordan, Ayla Oasis Development Company (Ayla), one of the largest tourism and real estate development companies in the Kingdom of Jordan and the developer of the Ayla Project in Aqaba, opened a language laboratory at the Aqaba Campus of the University of Jordan.
Built at a cost of JD50,000, the Ayla Modern Language Laboratory is fitted-out with state-of-the-art equipment to support the teaching of foreign languages and deliver specialized training at the university campus.
As part of the initiative, the university will offer a 30% discount on fees for 200 students from within the local community nominated by Ayla. This will serve as an added incentive for students joining various training programs and courses offered by the Department of Foreign Languages at the University of Jordan and motivate them to excel in their academic pursuits.
Engineer Sahl Dudin, Managing Director of Ayla, said: “This initiative falls under our CSR strategy launching this program aims to step-up our community engagement efforts. In collaboration with higher education institutions in Aqaba, we hope to cater to the requirements of students enrolled in various Jordanian universities and provide them with advanced learning aids to compete with the best talents on a global level. Eventually, we are confident such efforts will enhance the higher education infrastructure in the Kingdom of Jordan.
“In opening this specialized facility for teaching foreign languages, we seek to provide our students with cutting-edge tools that enrich their learning experience and offer them seamless access to diverse information sources. We believe the initiative will go a long way towards bolstering Jordan’s efforts to produce qualified and highly competent graduates that can drive the nation’s progress and enhance its competitiveness.”
Dudin added: “At Ayla, CSR is deeply integrated into our corporate strategy. We are resolved to empowering young people with the required knowledge and qualifications to help them cope with the challenges of the 21st century, even while supporting Jordan’s development – particularly in the tourism sector. Towards this priority, we set up a specialized facility at Al-Balqa’ Applied University (BAU) two years ago to offer integrated services in the tourism sector.”
Applauding Ayla’s efforts to support the local community, Dr Azmi Mahafzah, Director of the University of Jordan, said: “We are keen to collaborate with private sector entities within Jordan to enable our students and community members to keep abreast of latest global developments through leveraging advanced learning tools.”
For his part, Dr Sulaiman Al Lozi, Director, University of Jordan – Aqaba campus, welcomed the collaboration between higher education institutions and private sector companies in Jordan in supporting the development of academic programs offered by the country’s higher education centers. He pointed out that such partnerships would help articulate the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II of building a progressive and promising future for the people of Jordan.
