Ayla Oasis Development Company, in partnership with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, celebrated World Sustainability Day under the theme “Together Toward a More Sustainable Future.” The event was held this morning at the company’s headquarters in Aqaba, in the presence of H.E. Dr. Thabet Al Nabulsi, Commissioner for Tourism and Youth Affairs, Ayla’s executive management and employees, and stakeholders to promote environmental awareness and reinforce sustainability as an institutional principle across Ayla’s operations.
The opening remarks highlighted Ayla’s pioneering role in driving a development model that balances tourism excellence with environmental stewardship, embedding sustainability into every stage of planning, development, and operations.
Sahl Dudin, Managing Director of Ayla Oasis Development Company, stated, “Sustainability is at the core of our vision. We strive to create a lifestyle that blends enjoyment of place with a deep responsibility toward people and the environment. The tangible results we are achieving today in managing energy, water, and resources reflect a forward-looking culture that believes true development is the kind that protects nature and enhances the wellbeing of surrounding communities. We continue our mission to make Ayla a national model for sustainable development, with the ambition to remain always at the forefront.”
Dudin added that Ayla’s achievements in this field are the result of a long-standing commitment and dedication, noting that Ayla’s attainment of four international certifications in quality, environment, energy, and safety reflects the success of its balanced institutional approach.
The event featured visual presentations showcasing Ayla’s 2025 sustainability accomplishments, including reducing energy consumption by 8%, cutting water consumption by 23%, and increasing renewable electricity generation by 12%, strengthening operational efficiency and reinforcing environmental responsibility.
The Sustainability Department also announced the launch of the Ayla Sustainability Awards in three categories: Sustainable Employee, Sustainable Department, and Best Sustainability Idea, to encourage proactive engagement and promote positive environmental behavior in the workplace.
Attendees were invited to sign the Sustainability Pledge Wall, symbolizing individual and collective commitment to sustainable practices. Environmentally friendly gifts made from recycled materials were also distributed. The event concluded with a tree-planting initiative that emphasized community engagement and environmental care.
Ayla reaffirmed that celebrating World Sustainability Day is an important milestone in its ongoing efforts to implement sustainable development principles on the ground and strengthen Aqaba’s position as a world-class destination where luxury meets nature conservation.
