Aqaba, Jordan – In line with its commitment to offering an exceptional playing experience for its visitors, Ayla Oasis Development Company continues to implement a comprehensive and professional maintenance program for its golf course, managed by the first specialized maintenance team of its kind in Jordan, equipped with the latest global technologies and equipment.
The Ayla golf course is comprised of two main sections: the internal area, which includes the core playing zones such as the Tee, Fairway, Green, Rough, Approach, Bunker, and Water Hazards; and the external area, which encompasses walkways, greenery, trees, and surrounding facilities. Both sections require meticulous care and continuous maintenance to preserve the beauty of the course and uphold the highest standards of quality.
Daily maintenance operations include mowing the turf across all areas, rolling the greens to enhance ball speed, grooming and maintaining bunkers, repairing divots, and conducting regular irrigation along with system inspections. Additional activities include weeding, fertilization, pest control, and facility cleaning, while trees and plants receive special attention through pruning, trimming, fertilization, and regular watering. Beyond these daily tasks, the team carries out specialized seasonal practices such as Verticutting, Aerification, Top Dressing, as well as planting and development works, all designed to ensure the course continues to deliver a professional and world-class playing experience. Maintenance efforts also extend to surrounding facilities to maintain a comfortable and inviting environment throughout the year.
In addition to its sporting and touristic role, the Ayla golf course has significantly enriched Aqaba’s economic and social landscape by creating unprecedented job opportunities in Jordan’s labor market. Through its operational, technical, and logistical requirements, the course has introduced new professional specializations and created unconventional roles, underscoring the project’s pioneering role in diversifying the job market and nurturing new skills and expertise. The team comprises more than 46 employees across various disciplines, including engineers and technicians managing systems operations and maintenance, supervisors and landscapers responsible for green areas and environmental standards, workers handling daily operational needs, golf equipment and vehicle specialists ensuring readiness, as well as mechanics dedicated to maintaining specialized golf machinery and vehicles.
This diversity of expertise reflects the transformative impact of Ayla’s golf course on the labor market, introducing new career fields linked to the sport of golf, while helping develop specialized local capabilities and offering promising career paths for Jordanian youth. Project leaders affirm that these efforts highlight the company’s national role in supporting sustainable development in Aqaba, by promoting sports tourism and creating meaningful employment opportunities that benefit the local community and equip it with world-class skills.
Through these continuous efforts, Ayla has firmly established its position as a world-class sporting destination, welcoming golf enthusiasts from around the globe and offering them an international-standard course and an exceptional playing experience from arrival to the end of their round.
